A proposal for a UK child poverty strategy
In February 2021 the Bishop of Durham, Church of England lead on child poverty, asked the Legatum Institute to put forward a proposal for a UK child poverty strategy. This report is the Institute’s response to that request. It focuses on ideas about how to tackle the underlying or systemic causes of child poverty, including addressing potential long-term impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. We hope that this report, and those submitted to the Bishop by other organisations, will help stimulate debate, keep this vital issue at the top of the national agenda, and inform the Government’s response.
