Dr. Emmanuel Igwe: Economist
Emmanuel is an Economist at the Legatum Institute.
Prior to joining the Legatum Institute, Emmanuel led economic analysis and impact assessment work at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), where he developed core metrics and econometric appraisal models to evaluate changes to healthcare regulations on medical devices, clinical trials and point-of-care manufacturing.
While working as an economist in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, he was involved in economic appraisal modelling for projects such as the Brownfield Land Renewal Fund, Estate Regeneration Fund and Accommodation for Ex-Offenders. He also worked in the capacity of a policy adviser within the department; providing insights on investment mapping strategies for the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and developing metrics to ascertain priority places for the Levelling Up Fund.
He completed his PhD in International Business and Economics at the University of Greenwich. Whilst studying for his doctorate, he taught various modules to students reading Economics at the University of Greenwich and Business Management the University of Newcastle.
