Covid Impact Assessment Unit

Our Covid Impact Assessment Unit builds on our metrics expertise and understanding of the holistic nature of prosperity to highlight the potential impact of policy decisions made in response to the ongoing pandemic.

Overview

The Covid-19 pandemic is having a significant effect on individuals, families, and communities right across the UK. There is significant debate over the extent to which Government policy in response to the virus is informed by a holistic assessment of the impact of different choices across health, society, and the economy.

Our work provides a proof-of-concept for such a tool. We consider both short- and long-term impacts and present results in a way that allows the impacts across different areas to be considered together.

Our aim is to increase understanding of the breadth of impacts, how they interact with each other, and the assumptions and trade-offs that are presented by different policy choices. We hope to also provide a way for policymakers and politicians to communicate the evidence behind the choices being made and to increase the likelihood of achieving the best overall outcomes for individuals, families, and communities right across the UK.
