Research showing impact of Universal Credit cut – 840,000 more people in poverty

New research from the Legatum Institute estimates the government’s Covid response policy, including a temporary £20 a week increase to Universal Credit and Working Tax Credits and the suspension of the Minimum Income Floor (that applies to self-employed people claiming Universal Credit), has protected 840,000 people from poverty in Q2 2021.
