The theme is a timely one: women remain underrepresented in key sectors including politics, business and the media, whilst the gender pay gap remains the norm in workplaces across the UK. Dame Helena will explain how achieving meaningful prosperity requires us all to have the freedom and opportunity to fulfil our potential.

Dame Helena is one of the UK’s leading businesswomen and champions of diversity, being awarded a DBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2017. She is the founder of the 30% Club, a charity to get more women onto the boards of British companies, and currently serves as Head of Personal Investing at Legal & General Investment Management.

The Legatum Institute's Road to Character series examines those values which most strengthen and enrich the wellbeing of people, communities and nations. Launched in 2017 by the best-selling author and New York Times columnist by David Brooks, it invites leading thinkers to discuss the character trait they most value, and how it has proved a pivotal influence in their lives. The series comprises a key part of the Legatum Institute’s Cultural Transformation programme which seeks to help the UK’s great institutions examine how they can make a greater contribution to the strength, integrity and health of our society.
