How can the United States rebound from the COVID crisis with strength? What actions are needed to strengthen trust in institutions, rebuild the economy, and improve the health, wealth and wellbeing of all Americans?
Drawing upon 14 years of producing our global Prosperity Index, the Legatum Institute has developed the United States Prosperity Index to holistically measure the institutional, economic and social wellbeing of the 50 states and Washington, D.C. It is a go-to source of key data trends and is freely available to help policymakers, academics, legislators, and business and community leaders to identify strengths and weaknesses and understand how prosperity is can be improved across the U.S.

By providing a comprehensive picture of the situation in the U.S. before the coronavirus pandemic struck, the Index is a helpful lens through which to consider the various dimensions of the crisis and helps frame an agenda through which to address the present challenges.
The launch event will be an opportunity to discuss the findings of our 2020 state-by-state Index, which for the first time includes comprehensive county-level analysis of selected states across the U.S.
