Head of In-Country Prosperity Programme
Maria Jose heads up the Legatum Institute’s In-Country Prosperity Programme. She is an international development and sustainability expert with a multidisciplinary background – combining academia, public, private and international sectors with more than twelve years of experience, particularly in development interventions, policy, governance and impact investing. During her career she has worked in long-term appointments in North, Central and South America, Africa, and short-term projects in Asia and Europe.
Most recently, Maria Jose participated in multiple international projects dedicated to green and sustainable growth as a manager in PwC Poland. Prior to that she was part of the team that supported the Chilean government and president in their national communications, public policies, and public opinion.
Maria Jose is a Fulbright and a Becas Chile scholar with a degree in Political Science (Universidad Diego Portales). Maria also has three Masters: Strategic Communication (Universidad Adolfo Ibañez); Public Administration with focus on International Development (Cornell University); and, European Interdisciplinary Studies (College of Europe).
